Mi Estela on Samsung: don't let One UI put it to sleep
Samsung puts apps to sleep if you haven't opened them in a few days—and a sleeping app can't share anything. A couple of taps in Battery settings and Mi Estela stays awake.
What happens if you don't touch a thing
One UI has "Sleeping apps" and "Deep sleeping apps": if Mi Estela ends up in either list, it stops working in the background even if you chose "Allow all the time." Samsung may put it back to sleep after an update, so it's worth checking every now and then.
Step by step
Taps, in order
- Location: "Allow all the time"Settings › Apps › Mi Estela › Permissions › LocationSelect "Allow all the time" and turn on "Use precise location."
- App battery: "Unrestricted"Settings › Apps › Mi Estela › BatteryChoose "Unrestricted."
- Background usage limitsSettings › Battery (or Device care › Battery) › Background usage limitsTurn off "Put unused apps to sleep." Remove Mi Estela from "Sleeping apps" and "Deep sleeping apps," and add it to "Never sleeping apps."
- Don't remove permissionsSettings › Apps › Mi EstelaTurn off "Remove permissions if app is unused" (the exact wording may vary by version).
- Power savingSettings › BatteryWhen power saving is on, Samsung limits background activity. If you use it, some delays are normal.
- After a One UI update, check "Deep sleeping apps" again—Samsung may have moved Mi Estela back in.
- In Recents you can lock the app (tap the app icon › "Keep open") so it won't be closed when you clear all.
Check that it works
Close Mi Estela completely, leave your phone with the screen off for ten minutes, and ask someone in your circle to check your card on the map: it should say "just now," not "10 minutes ago." If it doesn't, go back to the battery step—that's the one that fails most often.

iPhone
On iPhone everything lives in Settings and there are no manufacturer surprises. You just need to give Mi Estela the "Always" permission with precise location and leave background app refresh turned on.

Android & Google Pixel
Since Android 11, the prompt inside the app no longer offers "Allow all the time"—you have to set it manually in Settings. Mi Estela takes you to that screen, but the tap is yours.

HyperOS and MIUI are among the most aggressive systems when it comes to killing background apps. Three quick tweaks (autostart, unrestricted battery, and the lock in Recents) and Mi Estela stays alive.
