Don't let your phone put Mi Estela to sleep

Every manufacturer handles battery its own way, and some kill background apps without warning. Here are the exact steps for each brand, with Settings paths and official sources.

iOS 18 and iOS 26

iPhone

On iPhone everything lives in Settings and there are no manufacturer surprises. You just need to give Mi Estela the "Always" permission with precise location and leave background app refresh turned on.

Android 13 to 16 (Pixel & stock Android)

Android & Google Pixel

Since Android 11, the prompt inside the app no longer offers "Allow all the time"—you have to set it manually in Settings. Mi Estela takes you to that screen, but the tap is yours.

One UI 6, 7 & 8

Samsung (One UI)

Samsung puts apps to sleep if you haven't opened them in a few days—and a sleeping app can't share anything. A couple of taps in Battery settings and Mi Estela stays awake.

HyperOS 2 & MIUI 14

Xiaomi, Redmi & POCO

HyperOS and MIUI are among the most aggressive systems when it comes to killing background apps. Three quick tweaks (autostart, unrestricted battery, and the lock in Recents) and Mi Estela stays alive.

EMUI, HarmonyOS & MagicOS

Huawei & Honor

Huawei and Honor "automatically" manage which apps get to stay alive—and that automatic management kills presence apps. The fix takes one minute.

ColorOS 15, OxygenOS 15, and realme UI

OPPO, OnePlus, and realme

ColorOS and OxygenOS close apps they consider inactive and may reset your settings after an update. A couple of taps in Battery and you're done.

Motorola (near-stock Android), vivo & iQOO (Funtouch / OriginOS)

Motorola, vivo & iQOO

Motorola is one of the friendliest when it comes to keeping apps alive—just set battery to "Unrestricted." vivo and iQOO have their own background power consumption screen.

Why this happens

Starting with Android 11, the "Allow all the time" location permission can't be granted from the pop-up inside the app: Google requires you to set it on the system Settings screen. This is the same for every app, including the competition. Mi Estela takes you to that screen, but you're the one who taps.

On top of that, Samsung, Xiaomi, Huawei, OPPO, and others add their own battery-saving features that "put to sleep" apps you don't open often. A sleeping app can't share anything, even if it has all the permissions. That's why each brand has its own guide.

On iPhone there are no different manufacturers: all you need is the "Always" permission and background app refresh.
