Stop Sharing Location: iPhone, Google Maps, WhatsApp, Life360
Stopping is your right, and doing it shouldn't feel awkward or scary. Here are the steps in each app and, above all, what the other person sees when you do, according to each company's documentation.

Sharing where you are should be reversible with one tap, no explanations needed. It's the foundation of consent, and an honest app makes it easy. What changes from one app to another is what the other person sees when you stop. Here's what each company documents.
Find My (iPhone)
With one person: Find My › People › their name › “Stop Sharing My Location”. With everyone: Settings › your name › Find My › “Share My Location” turned off. According to Apple's guide, when you stop sharing with someone, that person stops seeing you in Find My, and any arrival alerts they had set up about you turn off. Apple doesn't send them any notification: in their list, you just show up with no location.
Google Maps
Your profile picture › Location sharing › the person › “Stop”. If you shared via link, it expires on its own (within 24 hours at most). The other person stops seeing you in their shared location list; Google doesn't document any notification.
In the chat where you shared it, “Stop sharing”; or go to Settings › Privacy › Live location, where you see all the chats where it's active and can stop them all at once. The chat map freezes and shows that sharing has ended; if you do nothing, it ends on its own after the 15 minutes, 1 hour or 8 hours you chose.
Life360
Settings (top left) › “Share Location” › turn off. According to Life360's help, Circle members see “Location sharing paused” under your name, and the pause only affects the Circle where you turn it on: if you're in several, you need to repeat it in each one. Watch out for three exceptions that Life360 documents: check-in, an SOS alert (which is shared with all your Circles) and crash detection still send your position. And pausing doesn't delete history already saved.
Mi Estela
Three levels, one tap, no explanations: precise, area only (your approximate area instead of the street) or invisible (Ghost mode, for adults). What others see is the truth: “invisible,” not a frozen clock or a fake position. Going invisible asks for a “yes” so it doesn't happen by accident. And if you leave a circle, the circle gets a notice that you've left: nobody is left waiting for someone who's no longer there. How privacy works in Mi Estela.
If it isn't your own choice
If stopping sharing scares you because of how your partner, ex or a family member might react, the problem isn't the app. Read when sharing location as a couple is presence and when it's control and, if needed, the article on stalkerware, with helpline numbers (016, 112).
