Is Life360 Free? What the Free Plan Includes and What Costs Money
The short answer: yes, you can use Life360 for free, with ads and limits. The long answer: exactly what the free plan includes, what they ask you to pay for, what it costs in Spain, and what doesn't work here even if you pay.

Short answer: yes, Life360 has a free plan, and with it you can see your family on the map, get alerts when someone arrives at or leaves two places, chat, and send an SOS. It comes with ads, keeps only 2 days of history, and everything else is paid (Silver and Gold). Data from the Spanish App Store listing and Life360's website, checked October 15, 2026. If you want the whole app explained (history, privacy, sign-up), see Life360: what it is, how it works and prices.
What's included for free
- Real-time map of the people in your Circle.
- Place alerts (arriving at or leaving home, work, school): 2 places.
- 2-day location history.
- Private chat with photos.
- SOS alert: according to its App Store listing, it “sends a silent help alert with your location to your Circle and your emergency contacts.”
- Crash detection: on the free plan, Life360 says it contacts you and your emergency contacts.
- Family driving summary and seeing your Tile devices on the map (according to its UK website, which has the same plan structure).
And one thing that isn't a feature: ads. The Gold plan advertises an “ad-free experience,” meaning the free plan and Silver do include ads.
What costs money
| Free | Silver | Gold | |
|---|---|---|---|
| History | 2 days | 7 days | 30 days |
| Place alerts | 2 | Up to 5 | Unlimited |
| Crashes and SOS | Basic | “Premium alerts” | “Premium alerts” |
| Individual driving reports | No | No | Yes |
| Ads | Yes | Yes | No |
How much it costs in Spain
Here's the confusing part. On October 15, 2026, the Spanish App Store listing showed these in-app purchases without saying the period (monthly or yearly): Silver Membership €5.99; Gold Membership €7.99 and €10.99; and others called Premium (€7.99 and €43.99) and Plus (€7.99). On Life360's European website, checked October 14, Silver was €5.99/month and Gold €9.99/month, with a 7-day trial, and the annual option appeared only as “save 17%,” with no amount. What counts is the price the app shows on your phone before you pay.
What you don't get in Spain, even if you pay
The automatic emergency services dispatch after a crash. Life360 says it offers this to Gold users in Austria, Belgium, France, Ireland, Italy and Germany (and to Gold and Platinum users in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand). Spain isn't on the list: here, the alert goes to your Circle and your emergency contacts. For a real emergency, call 112, which already knows where you are when you call (we explain it here).
The price you don't see: your data
Life360's App Store privacy label says the app uses “identifiers” to track you across apps and websites owned by other companies, and its privacy policy (August 26, 2026) says it licenses “certain information, including precise geolocation” to partners for advertising, with an option to opt out. A free app doesn't mean it costs nothing; it means someone else pays. We cover this calmly in what happened with Life360's data.
If you really want something free
In Mi Estela, what protects you isn't paywalled: sharing your location, SOS, chat, calls, arrival alerts for 3 spots and 3 days of history are free, with no ads, and we don't sell or license location data. Premium (€9.99/month or €99.99/year, 14-day trial) covers the whole circle, not just one person. If you want to see all the options, check alternatives to Life360 in Spain.
