How Much Family Location Apps Cost in 2026: Prices in Spain

Free, “free with ads,” weekly, monthly, yearly, per person or per family: family location app prices are a mess. Here are only the ones we could verify, with dates and sources, and how to read them without a nasty surprise on your card.

Three overlapping price tags, the front one showing the euro symbol

Searching “how much does Life360 cost” or “Find My Kids price” gives you results from years ago, in dollars, or simply made up. We checked the App Store listings in Spain and the official websites on October 14 and 15, 2026, and here is what they showed. Where we couldn't verify something, we say so. One warning first: prices change often, and within each app, the price shown to you before you pay is the one that counts.

The free ones (really free)

  • Find My: free, no ads, comes on the iPhone. Only works between Apple devices.
  • Google Maps (location sharing) and Google Family Link: free. Family Link is parental control for children with Android; Google Maps works between iPhone and Android.
  • WhatsApp: free; real-time location lasts up to 8 hours at most.
  • AlertCops: the Spanish Interior Ministry's app is free with no purchases; it isn't a family app, but a way to alert the security forces (AlertCops, explained).

The paid ones (or free with limits)

Sources: App Store listings in Spain and each company's official website, on the dates indicated. Where you see “—” it means we couldn't verify a clear free plan. FamiSafe and Qustodio are parental control more than family location; they're here because people compare them (Qustodio or Family Link).

How to read these prices without a nasty surprise

  • Check the billing period. App Store listings show standalone amounts without saying whether they're monthly or yearly. Life360 lists up to five different purchases with similar names (with no period shown).
  • Watch out for weekly plans. €11.99 a week is more than €600 a year. If an app offers the weekly plan first, look for the yearly one before you tap.
  • Per person or per family? It changes the math a lot. Life360 charges per Circle; with Mi Estela, one person pays and the whole circle has it: for a family of five, the yearly plan works out to about €20 per head.
  • Free trials turn into paid plans on their own. Put the end date in your calendar. On iPhone, subscriptions are viewed and cancelled in Settings › your name › Subscriptions; on Android, in Google Play › your profile › Payments and subscriptions › Subscriptions.
  • “Free” still has a cost. Through ads or through data. Life360's privacy policy (August 26, 2026) says it licenses “certain information, including precise geolocation” to partners. We cover this in what happened with Life360's data.

What the free version covers in each case

For most families, the free version is enough for the essentials: seeing where everyone is and knowing they've arrived. What usually ends up behind a paywall is more history, more spots with alerts, or driving reports. With Mi Estela, what protects you (location, SOS, arrival alerts for 3 spots, chat and calls) is never charged; Premium raises the limits and keeps 30 days of history, and if you stop paying, nothing gets deleted.
